SEMS Screw
A SEMS screw is a type of fastener that consists of two separate components: a screw and a pre-assembled washer. The term "SEMS" stands for "Single Element Multiple Spindle." The washer is typically attached to the screw thread or shank, providing a means of retaining the washer during installation.
Washer Design: The washer portion of a SEMS screw can take various forms, including flat, split, helical, or toothed lock washers. The choice of washer design depends on the specific application and desired function, such as providing additional bearing surface, locking or anti-vibration properties, or electrical conductivity.

Assembly: The washer is typically pre-assembled onto the screw thread or shank during manufacturing. This pre-assembly ensures that the washer remains in position during transportation and handling, making installation more convenient and efficient.

Thread Types: SEMS screws are available with a wide range of thread types, including machine threads, self-tapping threads, and self-drilling threads. The choice of thread type depends on the specific application and the materials being fastened.

Head Types: SEMS screws come in various head types, such as pan head, flat head, round head, oval head, and truss head. The choice of head type depends on the specific application, desired appearance, and compatibility with installation tools.

Materials: SEMS screws are typically made from steel, stainless steel, brass, or other materials depending on the application requirements. Stainless steel SEMS screws are commonly used in applications where corrosion resistance is important, such as outdoor or marine environments.
